Invest and Settle: Federal Investor Pathway
The Federal Investment Immigration Program seeks to attract persons with business expertise to engage in the Canadian economy in order to increase employment and stimulate economic growth in the provinces and territories that participate. However, this program was terminated on June 19, 2014, and is no longer accepting new applications.
Requirements
The investment had to be made for a period of five years, after which the investment would be returned to the investor without interest.
The Federal Investor Program had been criticized for its limited economic benefits and the low investment amount required. The termination of the program was part of a broader overhaul of Canada’s immigration system, which aimed to focus more on skilled workers and entrepreneurs who were better positioned to contribute to the country’s economic growth.
While the Federal Investor Program is no longer accepting new applications, Canada continues to offer a range of federal and provincial business immigration programs that are designed to attract entrepreneurs, investors, and self-employed individuals who can contribute to the country’s economy.
