The Federal Self-Employed Program is a program for individuals who have experience in certain fields, such as arts, culture, and sports, and who want to immigrate to Canada as self-employed individuals.

The Federal Self-Employed Program is designed to attract individuals who have the intention and ability to become self-employed in Canada and contribute to the cultural or athletic life of Canada.

Requirements

To be eligible for the Federal Self-Employed Program in Canada, an individual must meet the following requirements:

  • Relevant Experience: The applicant must have at least two years of experience in self-employment in cultural activities, and athletics.
    • Two years of being self-employed in cultural activities/ athletics or
    • Two years of participating at a world-class level in cultural activities/ athletics, or
    • A combination of one year of each of the above.
  • Intention and Ability to be Self-Employed: The applicant must have the intention and ability to be self-employed in Canada.
  • Meet Selection Criteria: The applicant must meet the relevant selection criteria that include experience, education, age, language abilities, and adaptability.
  • Medical and security checks Requirements: The applicant must meet the health and character requirements for immigration to Canada.

The application process for the Federal Self-Employed Program involves submitting an application to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). The application includes documents that prove the applicant’s eligibility and ability to become self-employed in Canada.

Once the application is submitted, IRCC will review the application and assess the applicant’s eligibility. If the application is approved, the applicant will receive a permanent resident visa to immigrate to Canada.
