Agri-Food Pilot Program for permanent residence

Eligibility
To be eligible for the Agri-Food Pilot Program, applicants must have a job offer in an eligible industry and an eligible occupation in the agri-food sector.
Work experience
- A minimum of 1 year of non-seasonal, full-time work in the past 3 years (at least 1,560 hours)
- In 1 or more of the eligible occupations listed under 1 of the eligible industries
- Through the Temporary Foreign Worker Program (requires LMIA)
- Any work experience you gained while holding an open work permit does not count. (Work permits under the Temporary Foreign Worker Program may be applicable)
Job offer
- The job must be in an eligible occupation listed under 1 of the eligible industries.
- The job must be full-time and non-seasonal.
- Your employment is permanent with no set end date.
- Meet unionized and non-unionized wage requirements.
- The job must be in Canada and outside of Quebec.
Language requirements
- CLB – Level 4
- Any work experience you gained while holding an open work permit does not count. (Work permits under the Temporary Foreign Worker Program may be applicable)
Educational requirements
- Canadian high school diploma or equivalent foreign education.
Settlement funds
- Must prove that you have enough money to settle in Canada unless you are currently working in Canada with a valid status.
Duration
The Agri-Food Pilot Program is a three-year pilot program that began on May 15, 2020 and is scheduled to end on May 14, 2023. On May 8, 2023, the Government of Canada announced the extension of the Agri-Food Pilot, which will now run until May 14, 2025.
Quota:
The pilot program has a quota of 2,750 principal applicants, which includes the applicant and their family members.
Work permit:
Successful applicants will receive a work permit that is valid for up to three years, depending on the duration of their job offer. After working for two years, they may be eligible to apply for permanent residency under the program.
Processing time:
The processing time for applications under the Agri-Food Pilot Program is currently around 12 months.
