Agri-Food Pilot Program for permanent residence

The Agri-Food Pilot Program is an immigration program that was launched by the Canadian government to attract and retain experienced, skilled workers in the agri-food sector. The program is designed to address the labour shortage that the sector is facing and to support its growth.

  • Must prove that you have enough money to settle in Canada unless you are currently working in Canada with a valid status.

Duration

The Agri-Food Pilot Program is a three-year pilot program that began on May 15, 2020 and is scheduled to end on May 14, 2023. On May 8, 2023, the Government of Canada announced the extension of the Agri-Food Pilot, which will now run until May 14, 2025.

Quota:

The pilot program has a quota of 2,750 principal applicants, which includes the applicant and their family members.

Work permit:

Successful applicants will receive a work permit that is valid for up to three years, depending on the duration of their job offer. After working for two years, they may be eligible to apply for permanent residency under the program.

Processing time:

The processing time for applications under the Agri-Food Pilot Program is currently around 12 months.
