Skilled Workers and Entrepreneurs Making It Big

Manitoba is a province located in the heart of Canada, bordered by Ontario to the east, Saskatchewan to the west, and the United States to the south. Its capital city is Winnipeg, which is also the province’s largest city. Manitoba is known for its natural beauty, with vast prairies, rolling hills, and clear lakes, as well as its rich cultural heritage, which includes the Indigenous peoples who have inhabited the area for thousands of years, as well as French and English settlers who arrived in the 17th and 18th centuries. Manitoba is also home to a diverse population of over 1.3 million people, with a thriving economy that includes agriculture, manufacturing, mining, and tourism.

The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) is a Canadian immigration program that allows the province of Manitoba to nominate eligible skilled workers, businesspeople, and their families to become permanent residents of Canada. Applicants must meet certain eligibility criteria, such as having a valid job offer from a Manitoba employer or being a skilled worker in an in-demand occupation. The program also offers pathways for international students who have graduated from a post-secondary institution in Manitoba and for entrepreneurs who are interested in starting or purchasing a business in the province. Successful applicants receive a nomination from the province, which can be used to apply for permanent residency through the federal government’s Express Entry system or the Provincial Nominee Class. The PNP is an important tool for the province to attract and retain talented individuals and families who can help build a prosperous and diverse community in Manitoba.

Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program has many pathways.

  1. Skilled Workers in Manitoba (SWM)
  2. Skilled Workers Overseas (SWO)
  3. International Education Stream (IES)
  4. Business Investor Stream (BIS)

Skilled Workers in Manitoba (SWM)

The Skilled Workers in Manitoba stream is one of the immigration streams offered by the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). It is designed to attract and retain skilled workers who have the skills and experience needed to support Manitoba’s economy. Applicants must have a full-time job offer from a Manitoba employer in an in-demand occupation and meet other eligibility requirements, such as language proficiency, education, and work experience. The stream prioritizes candidates who have an established connection to Manitoba, such as those who are currently working in the province or have completed their education in Manitoba. The Skilled Workers in Manitoba stream is an important pathway for skilled workers to obtain permanent residency in Canada and contribute to the economic growth of Manitoba. There are three pathways under this stream.

  1. Skilled Workers in Manitoba Stream
  2. Manitoba Experience Pathway
  3. Employer Direct Recruitment Pathway

Skilled Workers Overseas (SWO)

Skilled Workers Overseas (SWO) is a stream of the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) that allows the province to nominate eligible skilled workers who have a strong connection to Manitoba but are living and working outside of Canada. Applicants must have an established connection to Manitoba, have previous work experience in the province, and demonstrate that they have the skills, education, and work experience required to succeed in Manitoba’s labour market. Successful applicants to the SWO stream receive a nomination from the province, which can be used to apply for permanent residency through the federal government’s Express Entry system or the Provincial Nominee Class. The SWO stream is an important tool for Manitoba to attract and retain skilled workers who have a strong connection to the province, and who can help contribute to Manitoba’s economy and society.

It offers a pathway to permanent residency for eligible international graduates who have the skills and qualifications needed to build Manitoba’s economy and society. The IES is an important tool for Manitoba to attract and retain talented international graduates who can help build a diverse and prosperous community in the province.
