Employer Driven Stream

The Northwest Territories Employer Driven Stream is a category within the Northwest Territories Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) that allows employers in the region to sponsor foreign workers for permanent residency in Canada. This stream is designed to address the region’s labor shortages by providing a pathway for skilled workers who can contribute to the NWT’s economy and communities. To be eligible for the Employer Driven Stream, candidates must have a valid job offer from a Northwest Territories employer in a designated occupation. The job offer must be for a full-time, permanent position, and the employer must demonstrate that they have been unable to fill the position with a Canadian citizen or permanent resident. If an employer sponsors a candidate through the Employer Driven Stream, the candidate will receive a nomination from the government of the Northwest Territories, which can then be used to apply for permanent residency in Canada. This stream is a win-win for both employers and foreign workers, as it helps to fill labor shortages in the region and provides an opportunity for skilled workers to establish themselves in Canada.

Entry Level/Semi-Skilled Occupations

The Entry-Level/Semi-Skilled Occupations streams are immigration programs designed for foreign workers who have limited formal education or training and are interested in working in Canada. These programs are typically offered through the Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) of different Canadian provinces and territories.

Candidates for the Entry-Level/Semi-Skilled Occupations streams typically work in industries such as hospitality, construction, manufacturing, and agriculture. They may have skills and experience in occupations such as food service workers, housekeeping attendants, construction laborers, and farm workers.

To be eligible for these programs, candidates must typically have a job offer from a Canadian employer in their designated occupation, as well as meet other criteria such as language proficiency and health and security requirements.

The Entry-Level/Semi-Skilled Occupations streams can be a great opportunity for foreign workers who do not meet the criteria for other immigration programs but still wish to work and live in Canada. Through these programs, they can gain valuable work experience and potentially apply for permanent residency in Canada in the future.

Skilled Workers

The Northwest Territories Employer-Driven: Skilled Workers stream is a component of the Northwest Territories Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) designed to fill skilled positions that cannot be filled by Canadian citizens or permanent residents. To be eligible for the stream, candidates must have a valid job offer from a Northwest Territories employer in a skilled occupation classified as Skill Level 0, 1, 2 or 3 under the National Occupational Classification (NOC). They must also meet the language proficiency requirements in either English or French, have the necessary qualifications and work experience for the job, and meet other eligibility criteria set by the Northwest Territories government. The Skilled Workers stream is an excellent opportunity for foreign nationals who have the skills and experience required by local employers in the Northwest Territories, offering a pathway to permanent residency in Canada and providing an opportunity to live and work in a unique and dynamic region of the country.

NWT Express Entry

The Northwest Territories (NWT) Employer-Driven: Express Entry streams are part of the NWT Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) and are designed to help meet the needs of employers in the region. These streams are linked to the federal government’s Express Entry system, which manages applications for permanent residency from skilled foreign workers. This category includes vocations classified under National Occupation Classification (NOC) TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3. Express Entry facilitates the hiring of competent workers by expediting applications for permanent residency. When the candidate is approved by NWT, he or she will receive 600 points in the Express Entry pool.
