Labour Market Priorities

The Nova Scotia Labour Market Priorities stream is a category within the Nova Scotia Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) that targets specific occupations or skill sets that are in demand in the province’s labour market. This stream allows the Nova Scotia Office of Immigration to select eligible candidates from the federal government’s Express Entry pool who meet the criteria of the province’s labour market needs. Candidates selected through this stream must show work experience requirements for one of these Express Entry streams in the targeted occupation and must demonstrate their ability to settle successfully in Nova Scotia. The eligibility criteria for this stream can change based on the province’s labour market needs. The Nova Scotia Labour Market Priorities stream provides a streamlined pathway for skilled workers who want to settle and work in Nova Scotia permanently. It allows the province to attract talent that aligns with its labour market needs and supports its economic growth.

*  Only candidates who receive a Letter of Interest from the Nova Scotia Office of Immigration may apply.

How to Apply

  • The Nova Scotia Labour Market Priorities stream is by invitation only.
  • Candidates must build an Express Entry profile and wait for a Letter of Interest (LOI) from Nova Scotia in order to apply.
  • If the LOI is accepted, the candidate must prepare and submit an application to the Province of Nova Scotia.
  • If the application is approved by the province, Nova Scotia will notify the applicant that they have been chosen for provincial nomination.
  • Accepting the provincial nomination raises the applicant’s CRS score by 600 points, almost ensuring they will obtain an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence in the next Express Entry lottery.
  • Express Entry applications for permanent residency are typically processed within six months.
