Making a Difference: Critical Worker Pathways
The Yukon Critical Impact Worker (CIW) stream is a pathway to permanent residency in Canada for individuals who have worked in semi-skilled or unskilled occupations in Yukon for at least 6 months. This stream is designed to meet the territory’s specific labor market needs and address critical shortages in certain industries. To be eligible for this stream, candidates must have a valid job offer from a Yukon employer and meet other eligibility criteria, such as language proficiency and education requirements.
The job offer must be in a designated occupation, which includes occupations in fields such as construction, hospitality, and food services. Candidates who are nominated through the CIW stream will receive additional points towards their permanent residency application under the Express Entry system, which can increase their chances of being invited to apply for permanent residency. The Yukon CIW stream is an important pathway for individuals who have worked in Yukon and wish to become permanent residents of Canada.
